A new year brings new opportunities to reach a higher Elite category!
At the start of every year, your Qualifying Points reset, giving you a fresh cycle to earn even more LATAM Pass benefits.
A new qualifying year begins
Every January 1 marks the beginning of a new qualifying year in LATAM Pass
and with it, a new opportunity to continue earning Qualifying Points,
maintain your Elite Category, or even achieve a new one.
We know this time of year often raises a few questions. That’s why we’ve
prepared a clear and comprehensive explanation so you can understand
exactly how the qualifying year works.
Important Information

A new qualifying year begins
On January 1, your Qualifying Points balance resets for the new qualifying year.

Retroactive Qualifying Points
Qualifying Points may be credited at the beginning of the new year; however, they will always be assigned to the corresponding qualifying period.

Your category is defined
Your total Qualifying Points from the previous year determine your Elite Category during the requalification process on March 31.

Year-end pause
Between December 31 and January 2, there is a temporary pause in the crediting of Qualifying Points. Don’t worry—your points will be credited correctly after this period.
Why do my Qualifying Points reset each year?
Qualifying Points are accumulated annually, from January 1 to December 31.
At the start of a new year, your Qualifying Points balance resets to start
a new qualification cycle. But don’t worry, nothing you earned in 2025 is
lost.
The total Qualifying Points accumulated during 2025 will remain recorded
in your qualification history and will be considered for Elite Category
requalification, which will take place on March 31, 2026.
What’s new
Starting in January 2026, you’ll be able to view your complete Qualifying Points history in the LATAM Pass app, ensuring greater transparency and clarity about your progress throughout the qualification process.
Qualifying Points Surplus
What is the surplus?
It’s the number of Qualifying Points you earn beyond what’s required to
maintain your Elite Category.
How does it work?
To take advantage of your Qualifying Points surplus, you must have
selected this benefit within the LATAM Pass Bonuses and, in the year you
selected this LATAM Pass Bonus, have earned more Qualifying Points than
required to maintain your Category. The total number of Qualifying Points
to be credited corresponds to the percentage defined in the selected
Bonus, which may be 50%, 75%, or 100% of the surplus. If this benefit was
not selected, the surplus amount will not be credited toward the new
qualifying year.
Example: A Platinum Category member earned 67,500 Qualifying
Points. The surplus is 32,500 points, since 35,000 points are required to
maintain the Category. As the member selected the LATAM Pass Bonus that
credits 50% of the surplus, the amount credited will be 16,250 Qualifying
Points.
Can I receive Qualifying Points even after the year has ended?
Yes, you can still receive Qualifying Points for activities completed during 2025, even after the year has ended. Some activities may take up to 60 days to be processed and credited, which means the points may appear on your statement during the first weeks of 2026. In these cases, the Qualifying Points will be counted toward your 2025 qualification goal.

Booking.com reservations
Credited up to 60 days after checkout.

Flights with partner airlines
Credited up to 30 days after the flight.
Example: A member stayed at a hotel booked through Booking.com and completed the checkout on December 20, 2025. The Qualifying Points were credited on February 10, 2026, within the processing period of up to 60 days. Even so, the points are automatically applied to the 2025 qualifying period, since the activity took place during that year, and they count toward your requalification goal, which takes place on March 31, 2026.
